Who is Anne Frank?
Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929. As a German-Jewish teenager, she was forced to go into hiding with her family in Amsterdam during World War II.
She received her first diary on her thirteenth birthday and began writing her most personal thoughts. An aspiring writer, Anne began rewriting her diary entries in hope that in future people would be interested in reading about someone in hiding.
However, it did not take the Nazis long to locate the Franks. In the March of 1945, Anne died of typhus and starvation in Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp. In all, she had four diaries and hundreds of pages of loose paper.
